More than 730 Green Hope High School (GHHS) students received Academic Letter Awards during a PTSA recognition event held on Friday, Oct. 2. GHHS Dean of Students, Sarah Knowles-Welsh said, "We've always known we have hardworking students and hardworking staff and the two put together have created an environment where students are successful."
In addition to the breakfast, qualifying students were awarded a letter and a lamp of learning pin. Congratulations to all the students! GHHS PTSA Offers $3500 in Teacher Grants
Teacher Grants are now available through the GHHS PTSA for the school year 2009-2010. (This program will be reevaluated each year and will be based on available funds).
- The grants that are available the 2009-2010 school year can be applied for as a department (defined below) OR $50 per person for number of individuals listed for that department.
- Grant funds are to be used solely for educational purposes and improvement of the teaching experience and must ultimately benefit the student.
- To receive an individual grant the individual must be a member of the PTSA. It is not a requirement for the entire department to be a PTSA member to receive a departmental grant.
- A teacher grant request form needs to be completed.
- The request for departmental or individual grants is to be filtered through the department chair. The department chair then passes the request to the PTSA Treasurer at: maryannem@nc.rr.com.
All requests for grants must be submitted to the PTSA treasurer by 3/31/2010. Link to download complete grant application
here.
There’s Still Time to Join the GHHS PTSA:
Plan to become a part of this active group that makes a difference in the lives of our students and school community. For a limited time, our PTSA dues will be just $10. We highly encourage our students to become PTSA members and hold leadership positions. PTSA board meetings are generally held the first Monday of the month in the media center. Committee meetings are held as needed throughout the year at various venues and usually include coffee.
